Tall Ships 2010

Ahoy Matey! Last Sunday we had a great family outing to Navy Pier and we saw the Tall Ships. They are gorgeous ships but I honestly had more fun watching Griffin explore and take in the sights. It was a beautiful day and a great adventure.

Learning the ropes

This ship was used in the making of Pirates of the Caribbean-Dead Man's Chest...I don't remember the name of the actual ship :)

This is one of my favorite pictures with the skyline in the background

Griffin wasn't too sure about the smoothie...but his face here cracks me up!

And enormous dog...Griffin was very excited and pet his nose!

Our First Trip to the Shedd Aquarium

If you can even imagine more fun than the 'peanut' birthday party...before the Grandmothers left we all headed to the Aquarium for the first time with Griffin. He loved the penguins and the dolphins and the Caribbean reef aquarium. He even reached in the very cold water to touch some underwater creatures (not real ones). Mom touched a couple starfish too! And if you don't know it some of the best views of Chicago are from the Aquarium. We heart Chicago!

And yes, he had a wardrobe change after lunch and splashing in the tidepool.

Griffin's First Birthday Party

We celebrated Griffins' first birthday a few days early this weekend. A great big thank you to all our family and friends that came to celebrate with us. He had a great day and enjoyed every bit of the party...except the birthday hat and the cupcake! He wanted nothing to do it with either one. It's been an amazing year and went by so quickly. We are so looking forward the next year with Griffin.

Uncle Brahm brought him a drum set!

As you may notice, we had a peanut theme. Peanut has been his nickname since the beginning so we thought it was only appropriate.

Yes, the whole family had peanut shirts!

First Step

Last night, August 10, 2010 was a big night for us...Griffin took his first real steps. I wouldn't say that he is walking but he definitely took a few steps on his own and really impressed us. And I cannot believe that we were both there to see it and that we caught it on video! Love the iPhone :)
